Explained: Adding payment methods in Afosto

Introduction

In this guide, we explain how to add payment methods in Afosto. This process consists of two parts: creating the payment method itself and linking a payment service provider to the method. In this way, you can easily switch payment providers without having to reconfigure your payment method settings.

Preparation

Make sure you are logged into your Afosto management account and navigate to the section with payment methods.

Creating the Method Itself

• Look for the 'payment methods' option and click on it. You will now see a screen where you can view and manage all available payment methods for your webshop.
• Click on the 'add' option to add a new payment method. A new screen will open where you can adjust the settings for this payment method.
• Select the type of payment method you want to add. This could be iDeal, for example, but other options are also available, such as credit card, PayPal, or bank transfer.
• Give your payment method a name that will be displayed in the checkout. This is the name that your customers will see when they want to use this payment method.
• Add a description or instruction for your customers. This can provide an explanation of how they can use this payment method, or what steps they need to take to complete the payment.
• If you offer your webshop in multiple languages, you can also add translations for the name and description of the payment method. This ensures that your customers can see and use the payment method in their own language.
• Indicate whether the payment method should be activated. If you turn off this option, the payment method will not be visible to your customers in the checkout.
• You can also set costs for using the payment method. This can be a fixed amount or a percentage of the order. If you don't want to set costs, you can turn off this option.
• After adjusting all settings, click on the 'add' button to save the payment method and add it to your webshop.

Linking a Payment Provider

• How to link a payment service provider to a payment method in the Afosto system:
• Go to the screen with the list of payment methods and click on "Link" behind the payment method you want to link.
• Choose an existing payment service provider integration or create a new one. If you have already linked a provider, you can reuse it for other payment methods.
  - When adding a new provider, follow the steps on the screen to link the provider. Enter the required information for the payment service provider, such as the provider's name and the API data you received from the provider. Check if the data is entered correctly and click on "Save".
  - When linking an existing provider, select the provider from the list that appears.

Test the integration by performing a test transaction. If the integration is successful, the payment method will now be linked to the payment service provider and ready for use.

Note: Make sure you have entered the correct information and have access to the required API data from the payment service provider before setting up the integration. If errors occur while linking the payment service provider, contact the provider for further assistance.
